The question when starting a new journal is “What should the journal be about?” or “What should I write/draw/etc on the first page?”
To get straight to the point - ANYTHING. Stop overthinking it. It’s a journal. It doesn’t have to be perfect. Don’t write to impress others THIS IS FOR YOU.
I know you probably did what I did and searched Journals on IG or Pinterest and see all the pages filled with amazing handwriting, stickers, drawings, etc.
IGNORE THEM.
If you are here for the healing of journaling, then Ignore all that…just write. That’s the point.

I used my first page to reflect on past journals. I set plans based on mistakes I thought I made in old books. In past journals I would write in it in such a way that I thought someone would stumble upon it and read it one day - so because of that I wasn’t writing unfiltered like I should. I was censoring myself - Using different names (when rereading I would forget who the hell I was talking about), I would be vague with topics or just leave out important context. And because I was doing that, it defeats the purpose of the journal all together.
I’ve come to the conclusion that it didn’t matter if someone read my unfiltered thoughts. I’ve very private anyway so by time someone actually does it them…Ill be dead and it doesn’t matter what people think.
